Just a small recap on the story...
This was in (correct me if I'm wrong) Chatel in about '93. Our rep Lisa told everyone about this 'hilarious' comedian called Torchy Harper (real name Clive Day) who did a 'brilliant' gig at the Dutch bar.
Needless to say we all attended this sham of a show, the highlight of which was Saberi being hauled up (as a volunteer) on stage by Torchy and being repeatedly asked to down Pints and eat baguettes.
Under other circumstances the volunteer would be either under the table or violently ill within a very short period of time. Apparently that to the mostly Dutch audience represented brilliant comedy, but Clive hadn't reckoned on someone like Saberi turning up, trained to the max by countless Parachute Club Dinners.
Having failed to get Steve ill or drunk there then ensued the real comedy with Steve stealing the show having been asked to leave the stage. This was followed by numerous encores until we were all forcibly ejected from the bar by the staff. Steve however did manage a final run to the stage, a grab of the mike and a final shout of 'Your still a C*nt!'
In later years and after some research it transpires that Clive is still on the circuit, and has a CD out called "Live and Shite at the Grotte" - I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions on that.
